Resolving Negitive Thoughts and Feelings
Sometimes our mind becomes full of negative thoughts we don’t like. Why don’t we like these thoughts? Because of how they make us feel. When you have a thought that doesn’t make you feel good you should explore that thought. The immediate response of course is to deny that thought. To put a stop to it. To leave it alone. But its important that you not do this. Its a problem for you, how will you ever solve it if you leave that problem alone? So how do you resolve this problem? I’ll explain in detail.
Step 1 – Be Reasonable.
The first thing you should remember is that this thought probably isn’t your fault. Our environments play a big role in our psychological make up. Our minds can become polluted by the world around us. Also sometimes we are forced into situations and we dealt with them the only way we knew how at the time. We might regret how we dealt with them but we have to go easy on ourselves. Its important to learn from those mistakes. But its not important to dwell on the fact that we made one. The faster you learn, the less you have to hurt.
So, the first step is to remind yourself “Its not like me to be that way. Its a thought that comes from something that happened to me. That thought doesn’t make me who I am. That thought is there for a reason, but it may not be the reason I think.” These are all important ideas and phrases, but you don’t have to say them. Just get the idea in your head.
Step 2 – Explore the Thought/Feeling
Now that your more okay with the thought/feeling, you can explore it. Its important to explore so you can resolve. Sometimes we dont know how to resolve old thoughts or situations. To explore the thought all you have to do is sit with it for a bit. Allow the thought/feeling to happen, allow the events and ideas around the thought/feeling to happen. All the while keep your intentions directed to resolving the thought/feeling/problem/situation. You will come up with an idea. Maybe it means talking to someone. Maybe it means getting something done you’ve been putting off.
Step 3 – Act.
Now comes that hard part. You have to act. Without action there can be no liberation from that thought and all the bad feelings associated with it. Its hard to do sometimes. But remember the reward. You’ll feel incredible and you life will become more full of joy and happiness.
